Introduction

This guide will show how to safely and efficiently remove and replace a Sludge Pit Bag for Manufacturing Operators. Safety Notes: Task specific potential hazard – Heavy equipment, and tripping hazard; Wear safety boots, safety glasses, gloves, and earplugs; Report any problem(s) to your supervisor immediately.

  3. If the sludge reaches just below the red loops then it is required to change the sludge pit bag (overfilling the bag might cause spill, as well as making the bag difficult to take out of the bin).

    • Before putting it on the cart, open up the new bag by stretching it out fully.

  4. Prepare a cart by hanging all the white loops on top of the bag to corresponding hangers on the cart.

    • Make sure splash guard is sticking out of the cart. (Figure 2)

  5. Change the Skimmer switch from AUTO (Figure 5) to OFF (Figure 6) and make sure the skimmer doesn’t push out any sludge while changing the bag . Change the Skimmer switch from AUTO (Figure 5) to OFF (Figure 6) and make sure the skimmer doesn’t push out any sludge while changing the bag .

    • Remove the hooks from splash guard to pull out the splash guard under the skimmer by using electric pump track.

    • Make sure the splash guard is completely out of the way so it doesn’t get caught on anything while moving the new cart.

  6. Remove the drain hose from the cart and set it aside. (Figure 1)

    • Close the drain valve so that no water drains out while moving the cart. (Figure 1)

    • Move the cart to an area where it can be drained.

  7. Move the new cart under skimmer. (Figure 3) Hang the splash guard using the hooks hanging on top of the skimmer.        (Figure 4)

  8. Attach the drain hose and open the drain valve. (Figure 1)

  9. Finally, switch the Skimmer from OFF position (Figure 6) to AUTO position (Figure 5). Finally, switch the Skimmer from OFF position (Figure 6) to AUTO position (Figure 5).
