Connect USB cable to RCL port on electric box. (1 Minute)
  • Connect USB cable to RCL port on electric box. (1 Minute)

  • Open HED program software. (1 Minute)

  • Turn key switch in crane to the "ON" position. (1 Minute) * Note: Screen will blink.

  • Install program on drive "F:\". Also load the ".rofms" and logo files into display. (8 Minutes)

  • Once programs are loaded, remove the USB cable. (1 Minute)

  • Turn key switch in the crane to the "OFF" position. (1 Minute)

  • Remove the 10A fuse (KK) from the fuse panel for 10 seconds to reset the pulse display. (2 Minutes)

  • Open IQAN program on the laptop and verify the connection to the MD3 controller. ''(2 Minutes)

  • *Note: If you are connected, you will see a green dot at the bottom of the program window that says "connected".

  • Under the "System Tab", change the machine ID to the machine's serial number located on the sales order. (2 Minutes)

  • Set the time and date fields. (1 Minute)

  • Under the "Update" tab, load the program titled "N4Z0034_V3". (4 Minutes)

  • Set the display type on the adjust screen using the PIN number 7411. *Possible inputs are J9, J9XP, or Metric (4 Minutes)

  • Go to Design Engineering Software Site and enter the serial numbers and applicable programs for all components. (5 Minutes)

  • *Note: Must use sales order to capture all options.

  • Download all required software. (4 Minutes)

  • Drag ".rofms" and logo files to the folder "files_digital" located on the desktop of the computer. (1 Minute)

  • Remove all counterweight pins from cab. (1 Minute)

  • Remove the counterweight remote and wind speed indicator if equipped from the cab. (2 Minutes)

  • Cycle boom hoist functions. (.5 Minutes)

  • Cycle swing function with the swing break and house lock disengaged. Listen to see that the swing alarm sounds. (.5 Minutes)

  • Check telescope function. (.5 Minutes)

  • Check swing brake pedal. Pedal should depress easily. (.5 Minutes)

  • Cycle carrier service brakes 2 times. (.5 Minutes)

  • Bleed the outriggers. Fully extend and retract one outrigger at a time to full extension and retraction. (6 Minutes)

  • Start with the right front outrigger and proceed clockwise around the crane while minding the ground person for issues and safety.

  • After cycling all outriggers, set beams to retract, fully extend the jack cylinders, and turn off the engine. (1 Minute)

  • Connect the Cummins Inline-5 adapter to the ODB port on the electic box and laptop (3 Minutes)

  • Open the Cummins Insite Software from the desktop of the laptop and click on the "Connect ECM" tab. Follow the on-screen instructions. (3 Minutes)

  • Select either "Prior Work Order" or "New Work Order". *Both will display the fault tree. (2 Minutes)

  • Click on "Fault Code Tab" to check for active faults. If there are no active faults, then clear all codes. (4 Minutes)

  • *If there are active faults, troubleshoot and repair. After repairs are complete, clear all codes.

  • Click on the "Data/Monitor" tab and verify the operation of the throttle pedal and throttle lock switches. (3 Minutes)

  • Remove cables and turn off laptop. (5 Minutes)

  • Open the screen menu and put in password by pressing the left hand, center, and right hand buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. Password is "333333". (2 Minutes)

  • Select "Setup". (1 Minute)

  • Set options from sales order. (4 Minutes)

  • Set the front and rear winch rope capacity. (1 Minute)

  • Set the machine serial number. Example is S4K4-1234.

  • 2 Qty-545ch keys from stock for the hood and tool box. (2 Minutes)

  • 2 Qty-Cab door keys. (1 Minute)

  • Place all keys on LBCE key ring. (2 Minutes)

  • Verify that the 2 keys are in the RCL bypass and set to bypass mode for all of startup. *Key cannot be removed while in bypass mode. (2 Minutes)

  • Verify all personnel and equipment are clear of the machine. (.5 Minutes)

  • Prime the fuel filter. (.5 Minutes)

  • Turn the key switch to the "ON" position. Wait for the alarm to stop and the display to load. (.5 Minutes)

  • *Blow the horn before start is attempted in compliance to safety procedures.

  • Start the engine. (.5 Minutes)

  • Verify with ground person that there are no leaks or abnormal noises. *Hydraulic functions are on a 15 second delay.

  • Cycle winches. Verify the speed and disable functions are good. Verify the rope direction is correct on the display. (.5 Minutes)

  • Check coolant fluid levels. (2 Minutes)

  • Add fluids as needed. (2 Minutes)

  • Place drive shaft on rolling fixture and roll under crane. (2 Minutes)

  • Jack up drive shaft to allow for bolting. (2 Minutes)

  • Install 4 bolts with impact. (4 Minutes)

  • With a calibrated torque wrench, torque one bolt to required torque. (.5 Minutes)

  • Apply torque seal. (.25 Minutes)

  • Repeat torque and torque seal procedures for the remaining 3 bolts. (2.25 Minutes)

  • Sound horn, start crane, and rotate upper 180 degrees. (1 Minute)
