Move the fitment rack from the dry fit area and into the bonding work area.
  • Move the fitment rack from the dry fit area and into the bonding work area.

  • Remove each of the table's support pieces and set them aside. The large supports should be placed on the bottom rack of the cart.

Remove only the pieces of tape that hold the pieces of the assembly together.

  • As each piece is freed, remove it from the assembly and set it aside.

  • Once all of the pieces of the seat console have been taken off the table, clean the surface with acetone.

  • Place a strip of masking tape underneath each bonding surface to catch the adhesive.

  • Apply adhesive to each mating surface on the parts to be bonded.

  • Join the two pieces together, ensuring that the mating surfaces are completely meshing.

  • Use a putty knife to scrape off any excess adhesive that comes out of the joints.

  • If there is any tape covering the mating surface of a part, score the tape with a razor and remove the tape that is covering the mating surface.

  • All joints at the edge of a part or assembly must have any excess adhesive scraped off and must be covered with masking tape.

  • Prepare the base of the seat console assembly for bonding by placing masking tape on the bottom of the base along each edge where parts will be joined.

  • Begin bonding the smaller subassemblies and covering each of the joints with masking tape.

  • Turn the base of the seat console over and apply adhesive to each of the mating surfaces.

  • Use a putty knife to smooth the adhesive out on the base's mating surfaces.

  • Place the top subassembly onto the seat console base, ensuring that all of the mating surfaces mesh.

  • Clean up any excess adhesive with a putty knife and cover the joints with masking tape.

  • Install the second half of the top of the seat console assembly.

  • Remove the excess adhesive with a putty knife and cover the joint on the underside with masking tape.

  • Use a putty knife to score the masking tape covering the mating surface underneath the top piece of the seat console assembly.

  • Begin installing the supports at the front and back of the seat console assembly.

  • Install the final piece of the seat console assembly and its frame support.

  • Place the two clamping plates on the joint along the top of the console assembly and secure them with two locking C clamp pliers.

  • Continue installing the frame supports that secure the top of the seat console.

  • Apply a small amount of adhesives to the joints along the front of the bottom of the assembly.

  • Clean all visible joints of excess adhesive and cover them with masking tape.

  • Fill the edges of the large opening in the seat console with adhesive and cover it with masking tape.

  • Place a pair of clamps on the frame support holding the center of the seat console assembly.

  • Clean up any excess adhesive on the joints with a small wooden stick.

  • Mark the seat console assembly with the appropriate batch number.

  • Place the entire cart into the oven to allow the adhesive to cure.
